[And welcome to my little blog.]

I'm Amanda! So happy you are here. Grab a glass of wine, read along, and let's be friends.

We're selling our condo!! Ahhh! Know anyone that wants to buy?

Friday, May 27, 2011
Hello all! Some of you may have noticed that the blog-front has been pretty quiet lately. Well... while I've been taking a blogging haitis, Kevin and I have been doing some thinking. We LOVE our condo, but we have decided to downsize a bit.  All for the greater good ... we've got some exciting stuff on the horizon.  More to come on that later.

But for now, I was wondering if you guys could do us a huge favor and tell any of your friends or family that may be in the market for a condo about our place?  We really do think it is a great place to live.. 1450 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, wood floors, granite, fireplace, walk in pantry, etc.  Call Kevin (402-657-5745) with questions or to schedule a showing.

Oh and for those of you that are thinking about selling and want to try it without a realtor, I'd totally recommend this website to get your property listed on the MLS (the same MLS that professional real estate agents use).  It only costs $195 rather than the typical 4.6 - 5.6% you would normally have to pay for a selling agent.  We still may shell out some money in real estate commissions if our buyer has a real estate agent (2.4% is the standard commission for buying agents), but if we can sell without a selling real estate agent we should save a lot of money, and will be able to pass that value onto our buyers.

Open house is 1-4 on Sunday, May 29th.  Feel free to come by!

For more pictures check out the MLS listing (# 21110008) or click here to see the listing on Prudential's site.  Thanks again to my dad for taking all the great pictures!

Mims and Murphy

Our little pets haven't made an appearance on this blog in quite some time.  Click here to read more about them.  They are alive and doing well.  Funny little things, aren't they?  Mim's and Muphy.

On another note, I've been in North Platte, Nebraska for work this week.  Tomorrow I'm making the drive from North Platte back to Omaha.  It is an incredibly boring drive, but I am excited to keep listening to the book Think and Grow Rich on audio book on the way home.  I was able to download it for free using a free 14-day trial on audible.com.  If you haven't heard of this book before, I would definitely recommend checking out.  I am reading it as part of a new book club some classmates and I just formed.  This book was recommended to me by both our professor and one of the people in our book club.  So far totally amazing.  Maybe even life-changing?

Our first anniversary

Monday, May 2, 2011
We had a lovely 1st anniversary.  We decided to have our anniversary dinner "date night" at home rather than going to a restaurant.  May seem a little silly, but sometime we prefer cooking together and having a nice meal at home.  Not to mention it saves money, and God knows we need to save money with our big Africa trip on the horizon.

Kevin surprised me with flowers this morning.  I used to think that I didn't like getting flowers.  Maybe because I had never really gotten them before.  I've completely changed my mind and gone into full on cliche girl mode.  :)  Look how pretty they are.
Before dinner we went on a walk on the Missouri riverfront and then to the Heartland of America Park (the ConAgra lake).  It's things like this make us love living downtown.

After our walk we started making dinner.  Steak with marinaded onions and mushrooms, couscous,  and asparagus, with a blue cheese lettuce wedge salad.  If you haven't tried couscous or Dale's steak marinade, you need to give it a try.  Couscous is so fast and easy to make.  It only takes about 3 minutes compared to rice which normally takes 30 - 40 minutes.  And Dale's steak marinade is amazing.  You don't have to do a single thing to the steak.  Just marinade it in Dale's, and cook it to the correct temp, and it turns out soooo tasty.

We opened up one of the bottles of wine we brought back from our Italy honeymoon.  Only one bottle left.

We didn't give each other any presents (Africa is our gift to one another), but we did exchange cards.  I love cards with handwritten notes, but I especially love Kevin's cards.  He's such a good writer, and always has the nicest things to say.

So that was our Sunday.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Oh, and you might notice the blog looks a little different.  I've been playing around with a couple different designs.  I'd like to have the pictures take more of a center stage, which I think will encourage me to keep working on my photography skills. I know some of the formatting might be temporarily a little off.  Thanks for hanging with me while I get it all straightened out.
