Hello

[And welcome to my little blog.]

I'm Amanda! So happy you are here. Grab a glass of wine, read along, and let's be friends.

Bruschetta Fresca?

Saturday, April 9, 2011
Last night Kevin took some of the leftover Pasta Fresca sauce (click here for posting about this) and put it on some toasted sourdough bread.  Voila!  A new dish:  Bruschetta Fresca!  I think this might have actually been better than the original dish.

A few hours later I started making a late dinner - crab legs and shredded brussel sprouts.

I like to try different recipes, so I tried this brussel sprout recipe that called for bacon, pine nuts, green onion, butter, salt, and pepper.  Seemed like it would be really good, but it was just OK.  And since it called for bacon (and some of the grease that went with it) and 1/4 cup of butter, I transformed one of the healthiest veggies into an artery clogger.  Ugh.

Does anyone have a brussel sprout recipe they'd recommend?

I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.  I'm going to man-handle myself into starting a paper I've been putting off for weeks...  wish me luck!

Did you bring the crab back with you from your trip to San Francisco?

Good guess, but we didn't. Unfortunately this crab was nowhere near as good as the crab we had in San Francisco. It was really pretty disappointing. We probably should have put more time between when we ate fresh crab on the coast and eating crab flown into the midwest....

On another note, I thought I was following your blog, but I just checked and somehow it was not on my list. I have some reading to catch up on! Take care!

Yum! :) I love me some bruschetta! I always broil brussel sprouts after sprinkling just a little olive oil and salt on them. I love the natural flavor that they have and broiling gives them a "roasted" flavor.

I don't know why, but I hardly ever broil anything. I'm totally going to give this a try. Awesome. Thanks Stacie!
